Is it possible for a martial arts chain to be banned, run out or frozen out of a particular market?

I have heard bad things about the ATA (American Taekwondo ociation). Curious, I wanted to find out just how bad it is, but, I cannot find ONE ATA school within 100 miles of where I live. They have both forms of Taekwondo, Tangsoodo, various Karates, KungFus, Judos, BJJ, even Muy Thai, Boxing but not ONE ATA school near me. I know a lot of the TKD people around me are very "old school". Could they have scared those ATA guys off, or is this just a simple case of the market already having more TKD schools than it needs?
