How do i get over my 1st true love?

I'm 18 years old and was recently broken apart from my girlfriend of 9 months. We were broken apart by domestic abuse charges that I had committed. (I put my hands around her neck to scare her)(bad night) I have not talked or seen her since the incident.(a month since) I also quit a job of mine and changed to night school to avoid any legal issues. I was getting help from a therapist and have been really working on my anger issues. I also was involuntary admitted into a psychiatric hospital for a week due to a suicide note I wrote after losing my g/f, dignity, and reputation and feeling hopeless. I was diagnosed with major depression, which I feel caused me act out. I have never gotten in any legal trouble, don’t do drugs, and get great grades in school. My cousin who has talked to my girlfriend more recent than I has said that she said her parents made her do it, and that she still loves me and wants to be w/ me and all that stuff.
