What are Christians view on the Sun's supernova?

Didn't a mad monk write something about the human race where all die and go to heaven? This was supposed to have happened already, wasn't it? Back in the days of my youth, when I was a Catholic, that was the part of the bible which was too incredulous for me to believe. But life on earth will perish way before the sun goes nova, and for the human race to continue to exist, it must evolve. The most logical evolution is a man/machine hybrid that can travel to the stars, and settle and thrive on other planets. If we still have religions they also must evolve.
